Mission

The mission of Iowa Wesleyan College is to prepare students to succeed in a changing global environment.  Iowa Wesleyan is a four year liberal arts college providing quality individualized learning experiences that combine the development of the intellect with adaptive life skills.

History

One of the first goals of the pioneers in this new western territory was to build an institute of higher learning. The settling of this rapdily developing southeast corner of the Iowa Territory involved monumental effort, so their goal of a literary institute was based on a clear vision and bold determiniation. And so, only eight years after the platting of this community, the Territorial Legislature granted a charter for the Mount Pleasant Literary Institute on February 17, 1842.
