Network and Systems Administrator

The Iowa Wesleyan College has an immediate opening for the full-time position of Network and Systems Administrator.  The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide training and support faculty, staff, and students on software and hardware, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot hardware and software, support and maintain Windows, Linux and Exchange Server, and support and maintain network and data systems including routers and switches, Firewall, Avaya Definity phone system and Intutity voicemail system.
 
The ideal candidate will possess the following abilities:
  • Excellent organizational, communication, user/customer service skills and training expertise with well developed problem solving skills and multi-tasking abilities
  • Enjoy working with people and being part of an integrated team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010/2013
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows 7/8
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2008/2012
  • Knowledge of Active Directory including Group Policy
  • Knowledge of Internet Information Services
  • Knowledge of MS SQL or MySQL Server
  • Knowledge of enterprise WiFi system
  • Microsoft Exchange administration
  • Network switches, VLANS, packet capturing
  • VPN Client software and configuration
  • Digital telephone systems, Avaya Definity experience preferred
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or equivalent experience. Other technical certificates are welcome,1 to 3 year’s experience in desktop support services, daily network and systems administration functions. Additional qualifications will include exceptional customer service skills, demonstrated problem solving abilities, capable of working independently, the ability to work as part of an IT team, and willingness to take on a variety of additional roles and tasks. To maintain minimal downtime for the college, you need to be on call and have the ability to work non-standard hours on evenings and weekends.  Prior academic experience is a plus but not required.
