Former Iowa Wesleyan College baseball standout, Jacob Sanchez ’12, has signed with the Chicago White Sox. Sanchez joined the Joliet Slammers midway through the 2012 season.
This season with the Slammers, Sanchez struck out 29 batters in 26.2 innings. His stats on the season include back-to-back 10-strikeout performances. In his rookie season, he posted a 5-2 record with a 2.89 ERA in 11 starts.
During his collegiate career at IWC, Sanchez made his mark in the record books. He was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2012. He finished the season with a 10-2 record and a 2.42 ERA in 93 innings pitched. He was the first and only Tiger to post more than 100 strikeouts in a single season, recording 111 strikeouts in 2012. Sanchez walked just 12 batters in his final campaign with the Tigers as well.
