Five Tigers named honorable mention on MCC soccer all-conference teams

MOUNT PLEASANT – Three Iowa Wesleyan College women and two IWC men received recognition when the Midwest Collegiate Conference released its women’s and men’s soccer all-conference teams on Monday.

Senior defender Karly York (Waukee, Iowa), junior forward Fanny Koloko-Green (Fremont, Calif.) and sophomore midfielder Jillian Sulcer (Mechanicsburg, Ill.) were all named to the MCC Honorable Mention All-Conference women’s soccer team. Forward Michael Roberts (Sr.-St. Johns, Antigua) and goalkeeper Troy Osborne (So.-Sydney, Australia) were named honorable mention all-conference for the Tigers on the men’s side.

York finished her career at IWC as a four-time honorable mention all-conference selection. She anchored the Tiger defense the past three years after tying for the team lead in goals her freshman year. York finished her career starting all 71 of Wesleyan’s matches over her four years with the team.

Koloko-Green set a new school record this season for goals in a single season with 11 goals. She led the Tigers in goals and tied for fourth in the MCC in goals scored this season. She also topped IWC in points scored with 22 and tied for ninth in the MCC in that category.

Sulcer was named honorable mention all-conference for the second straight season. A leader on offense and in the midfield, she finished second on the team in points with 12 and tied for second on the squad with five goals scored this year. She also had three game-winning goals to lead the team in that category and tie for third in the MCC.

Roberts was one of the top scoring forces in the MCC all season, leading the Tigers and tying for the conference lead with 14 goals scored. His 30 points on the season also led the Tigers and was the fifth-best total in the conference. Roberts also tied for second in the league with four game-winning goals.

Osborne started every match in goal for Wesleyan this year and had a pair of shutouts. He finished third in the MCC in saves with 93 and faced the most shots of any keeper in the league (137). Osborne also was seventh in the conference with a 2.31 goals against average.
