BLOOMINGTON, ILL. – Ridge Hobbs (Fr.-New London, Iowa) and Richard Silva (Fr.-Kirkland, Wash) posted the two highest finishes to lead the Iowa Wesleyan College indoor track and field teams at the Titan Open hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday.
Hobbs finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.49 meters, while Silva was sixth in the shot put with a distance of 14.77m. The two men combined for three points and were the lone Wesleyan athletes to score at the meet, which included a packed field including
Xavier Shields (Fr.-St. Albans, N.Y.) also had a good performance for Iowa Wesleyan as well, finishing ninth in the 400 with a time of 53.16. He also placed 11th in the 200 with a time of 23.63.
The top performer for the Tiger women on Saturday was Mariah Montgomery (Fr.-Cedar Rapids, Iowa), who came in 17th in the 55 hurdles with a time of 9.76.
Behind Montgomery’s finish was Caitlyn Jones (So, Cornell, Ill.) in the 800. Jones finished 22nd with a time of 2:37.15.
The Wesleyan track teams will now travel to Mount Vernon on Saturday, Feb. 6, to compete in the Cornell College Hilltop Invitational. Events will begin at 10 a.m.
