CEDAR RAPIDS – The Iowa Wesleyan College women’s golf team opened its spring season finishing 10th at the Mount Mercy Women’s Spring Invitational at the lengthy Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
Winning the tournament was St. Olaf (Minn.) College shooting a 687 (335-352) and finishing 20 shots ahead of Carleton (Minn.) College. Taking medalist honors individually was Jordan Davis of Ashford University shooting a 166 (84-82) edging out Chelsey McCoy of Viterbo (Wis.) University and Hope Keaney of Carleton by two shots.
IWC was led by senior Melissa Peterson (Sr.-Wilton, Iowa), who led the Tigers with a score of 197 (99-98), finishing in 31st place. Behind Peterson was Gabby Combs (Jr.-Macomb, Ill.) who shot a 205 (103-102) finishing 39th. Next was Alyssa McClain (So.-Belleville, Ill.) who finished 40th shooting a score of 206 (102-104).
Stevie Schrier (So.-Columbus Junction, Iowa) shot a score of 216 (108-108). Rounding out the Tigers score was Michelle Lox (So.-Danville, Iowa) shooting a 256 (126-130) finishing 53rd.
The Tigers will continue their spring schedule this Saturday at the two-day Clarke College Invitational in Dubuque.
