IWC track team concludes season at NAIA National Championships

MARION, IND. – Iowa Wesleyan College completed its postseason competition at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Friday.

Freshman sprinter Nigel Talton (Fort Valley, Ga.) finished 14th in the 100-meter dash semifinals and did not qualify for the finals in the event. Talton ran the 100 in 10.82 seconds on Friday, placing eighth in his heat and 14th of 17 competitors total.

Talton’s time was .28 slower than his school record of 10.54 set on Thursday in preliminaries.Times across the board were down on Friday, as winds were much lighter at the Outdoor Track at Indiana Wesleyan University.

B.J. Lawrence of Dana (Neb.) College posted the fastest time in the semis, clocking in at 10.51. Michael Sands of Dickinson State (N.D.) University was the ninth and final sprinter to qualify for the finals with a time of 10.66.
