MOUNT PLEASANT – Registrations are now being accepted for the first Premier Youth Soccer Camp Series for area youth hosted by the Iowa Wesleyan College men’s soccer program.
New IWC men’s soccer coach Shane Taylor will conduct three separate camps Aug. 2-6 at the soccer fields at East Lake Park. The co-ed camps will be for youth ages 6-12.
Comprehensive instructional camps will take place Aug. 2-4, with Camp A for ages 6-7 going from 8-9:30 a.m. and Camp B for ages 8-9 from 10-11:30 a.m. In addition, an individual skills camp (Camp C) will be held Aug. 5-6 from 8-10 a.m. for youth ages 12 and under.
According to Coach Taylor, the Premier Youth Soccer Camp Series was created for youth in 2005 when he was coach at Illinois College to develop individual skill and confidence, facilitate game knowledge, and enhance team play. Campers are given the opportunity to take part in fun and informational instruction led by quality instructors who understand the needs of youth and teen players. The camps will use demonstration and age specific instruction to teach the tactical and technical aspects of soccer that are needed for an aspiring young player.
Cost of the comprehensive individual camps (A & B) will be $65, while cost for the individual skills camp will be $45. Campers should bring their own ball as well as water. All attending will receive a camp t-shirt. Separate goalkeeping instruction is also available, and interested prospective campers should contact Coach Taylor for availability.
