IWC’s Osborne named to NPSL All-Star Team

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Iowa Wesleyan College’s Troy Osborne (Sydney, Australia), a member of the Tigers men’s soccer team, has been named to the National Premier Soccer League All-Star team.

Osborne is playing for the Eau Claire (Wis.) Aris and was named a Midwest Regional All-Star. He also was later selected to the NPSL national all-star team and will take part in the NPSL All-Star match to be held Friday, July 30 at 8 p.m. in Madison, Ala.

The All-Star match will be held in conjunction with a pro combine day as well as the NPSL Final Four. The combine will consist of three separate training sessions in which All-Stars will have a chance to showcase their skills to professional teams.

The NPSL is considered the highest ranking amateur league in the United States and includes teams made of current college players as well as former professional, amateur, National Team and youth players. The league includes teams from around the country and is an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation.

Osborne is a goalkeeper and will be a junior this year on the IWC men’s soccer team. In his first two years he has played in 33 matches, including starting all 19 matches last year as a sophomore. In his two seasons he has posted a 2.36 goals against average with three shutouts.

Iowa Wesleyan opens its 2010 men’s soccer Saturday, Aug. 28 against Concordia (Neb.) University at 1 p.m. at East Lake Park. The game will be the first for the Tigers under the direction of first-year head coach Shane Taylor.
