Culver-Stockton shuts out IWC women’s soccer, 5-0

CANTON, MO. – Culver-Stockton (Mo.) College scored three times over a three-minute stretch bridging the halftime break, and the Wildcats went on to defeat the Iowa Wesleyan College women’s soccer team 5-0 Wednesday afternoon.

The Tigers dropped to 1-6-1 overall while Culver-Stockton stayed undefeated at 4-0. IWC was able to hang in for almost a half despite having little control of possession, but a rough stretch in the middle of the match was all the host Wildcats needed to seize control on the scoreboard.

CSC broke open a scoreless game by scoring with 2:08 left in the first half on a goal by Kaylie Erickson. The Wildcats then were awarded a penalty kick with just 36 seconds left in the half, and Katie MacBride converted for a 2-0 lead.

Culver-Stockton then added its third goal just 50 seconds into the second half when Sydney Hase scored to make it 3-0. The Wildcats then added goals in the 58th and 76th minutes to ice the game.

The Wildcats mounted a 21-10 advantage in shots and a 12-5 lead in shots on goal. Cara Arnold (Jr.-Stillman Valley, Ill.) made seven saves in goal for the Tigers, while Jacki Isham (Jr.-Stillman Valley, Ill.), Taylor Scott (Jr.-Rockton, Ill.) and Brittney Moss (Jr.-Genoa, Ill.) all had two shots to lead the IWC offensive attack.
