Chris Vallillo, a nationally-acclaimed singer/songwriter and folk musician from Macomb, Illinois, will perform his one-man show, Abraham Lincoln in Song, on Thursday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Iowa Wesleyan College Chapel.
Vallillo created this show about Abraham Lincoln, using period music as a way to illustrate Lincoln’s life. It contains 11 period songs Lincoln knew or was associated with, plus two contemporary folk songs. The music touches on different points of Lincoln’s life, from his earliest days through his time as President. This show received the endorsement of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
Vallillo serves as Illinois State Scholar for the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibit on roots of music, New Horizons.
Sponsored by Friends of the Harlan-Lincoln House at Iowa Wesleyan College, the performance supports the ongoing preservation and development of the Harlan-Lincoln House.
