Chambers named to ESPN CoSIDA Academic All-Region Team

MOUNT PLEASANT – Iowa Wesleyan College football player Maxmillian Chambers (Jr.-Bloomington, Ill.) has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN Academic All-District selection, as was announced by the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee late last week.

Chambers was named to the Third Team for Region VII of the College Division, made up of NCAA Divisions II and III and NAIA schools. Region VII is made up of schools ranging from Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Chambers, a defensive tackle for the Tigers, is majoring in Business at IWC and carries a 3.61 grade point average. This season he has played in all ten games, starting three, and has made eight tackles (six solo). He is a two-year letter winner with the football team.

The CoSIDA All-District award is part of the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, which since 1952 has bestowed Academic All-American recognition on male and female athletes in NCAA Divisions I, II and III and NAIA athletes.

The Tiger football team will close its 2010 season on Saturday when its host St. Ambrose University at 1 p.m. at Mapleleaf Stadium.
