Six score in double figures as Wesleyan routs Emmaus Bible

MOUNT PLEASANT – Iowa Wesleyan College shot 78.8% in the second half and over 63% for the game as it defeated Emmaus Bible College 116-55 Monday evening in a non-conference game at Ruble Arena.

The Tigers set a school single-game record for steals for the second straight game and also tied a school record for assists in a game. IWC won its fourth straight game and improved to 6-1, while Emmaus dropped to 0-7.

Wesleyan finished the game with 29 steals, including ten from Reggie Shipp (Sr.-Aurora, Ill.). The Tigers also had 37 assists, including seven by Shipp and six by Jeremy Simmons (Jr.-Jackson, Tenn.).

IWC shot 26 of 33 in the second half and finished 53 of 84 from the game (63.1%). The Tigers scored many of their points on layups off the fast break, with 59 points off the break.

Six players scored in double figures for the Tigers, led by Jeff Harper (Jr.-Whiteville, Tenn.) with 17. Nate Fuqua (Sr.-Maywood, Ill.) added 16 and Shipp and Cameron Sanchez (Jr.-Carpentersville, Ill.) both added 14.

David Skowron scored 12 points to lead Emmaus, a small college of an enrollment of 250 students in Dubuque. Matt Lee added 11 points for the Eagles.

The Tigers next will play at Central Methodist (Mo.) University next Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. IWC defeated CMU 84-64 in their first meeting on Nov. 5 at the Mount Mercy Bosch Financial Classic. IWC will be on the road for its next five games and will not be home again until Jan. 8th for a Midwest Collegiate Conference women’s/men’s doubleheader against Waldorf College.
