Iowa Wesleyan College Adopt-A-Student 2012

Online Adopt-A-Student Form

Dear First-Year Student:

Welcome to Iowa Wesleyan College! We want to help ease your transition into Iowa Wesleyan College and the Mt. Pleasant community with the Adopt-A-Student program. This special program matches interested first-year students with local alumni, IWC staff and friends of the college who serve as sponsor hosts and help introduce the students to the campus and local community.

WHAT is this program?

While you are here, you may want an occasional change of scenery and an opportunity to be off campus in the Mt. Pleasant community. This program, sponsored by the Religious Life Office, Alumni Office and the Student Alumni Association, matches students with hosts according to their common interests. Students may enjoy ongoing relationships with their adopted hosts well beyond their first year.

WHO will be my host?

Our volunteer hosts reflect a wide range of individuals including alumni, IWC staff, and friends of the college, each dedicated to easing your transition to Iowa Wesleyan College. You are matched with a host based on your answers to the Adopt-A-Student Questionnaire.

WHEN will I be matched?

The committee begins the matching process early in July. After the matching, hosts are given information about their adopted students and are encouraged to make contact with you before you arrive on campus.

WHAT does the program involve?

To help you get acquainted with your host there will be a few planned activities during the first year you are on campus. Beyond these activities, what you do is up to you and your host - it can be as much or as little as you like!

WHERE will I meet my host?

Hosts are encouraged to attend an event during New Student Orientation so that they may make your acquaintance if they have not already done so.

HOW do I sign up?

Please submit the online Adopt-A-Student form.
