MOUNT PLEASANT – The Iowa Wesleyan College baseball program will be hosting a pair of skills clinics this winter.
A pitching and catching clinic will be held Jan. 31 from 9 a.m. to noon, while a hitting clinic will be conducted Feb. 8 from 1-4 p.m. Both will be held at IWC’s Ruble Arena.
The clinics will consist of three components. Mini-clinics will feature lectures on various skills, techniques and drills. Demonstrations will include the live execution of drills by staff members to ensure proper technique, and the demonstrations will be followed by group participation in which players perform skills under staff supervision.
The sessions are designed to teach proper mechanics and fundamentals in pitching, catching and hitting. Both clinics will be conducted by Iowa Wesleyan College Head Coach Brett Monaghan and his coaching staff, as well as members of the IWC baseball team.
The camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-14. The cost of each clinic individually is $30 or $50 for both. A $5 late registration fee will apply to all registrations received after Jan. 20. Clinic fees are non-refundable without 24 hours advance notice.
Campers are expected to bring a cap, tennis shoes, glove and bat. Catchers are also expected to bring catching equipment. All campers will also receive a camp t-shirt.
