Get involved in your IWC community. Our halls are buzzing with activity. You name it - we got it:
· From study groups to poker tournaments
· From bocce ball to baking cookies
· From late night conversations to early morning workouts
The hall staff sponsors dozens and dozens of programs. There will also be thousands of impromptu conversations, activities and just downright fun that happens around the clock in our halls.
While the hall staff works hard to make a lot of things happen in the halls, most of what goes on comes from the residents. Each hall has a hall council. While the events they plan are crucial to the community development in the halls, they also are a great way for the members to meet new people and learn valuable leadership skills. Each hall council has opportunities for incoming students, so don't hesitate to get involved!
We have many different activities and ways to help you become a positive member of our community, but there are things we’re counting on you to help make happen. These include things like:
· Not only keeping your door to your room open but going to a neighbor’s room and introducing yourself.
· Walking down the hall and to the lobby and joining in on the many discussions and debates that will be occurring.
· Following the community guidelines for life in the residence halls and being the kind of person other people like living with
That last one is big one. We want everyone to live in an environment that in safe, clean and enjoyable. While most of our residents do abide by the rules and guidelines necessary for community living, occasionally some will need reminding. It is everyone’s responsibility to be familiar with all guidelines as well as what occurs when these guidelines are not followed. Pages 50-54 in the 2012-13 Community Guide describe our processes for what happens when community guidelines aren’t followed.
