Position Title: Assistant Professor, Early Childhood Education
Position Description: This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track teaching position in the areas of early childhood and, if needed, elementary education. Standard teaching load is 12 credits per semester. The position requires teaching traditional and nontraditional students during day and evening. Duties include: teaching content, theory and application to potential educators; serving as point person for early childhood practicum; supervising student teachers; advising students; serving on various administrative, faculty and standing committees as assigned; performing other work-related duties as assigned; and assisting in the development and submission of program reviews.
Additional Responsibilities:
Teach elementary education core courses, if needed.
Summer teaching is negotiable but desired.
Actively participate in professional organizations.
Participate in community service as related to their area of expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education required
- Experience in the field of Early Childhood Education, required
- Experience teaching college-level Early Childhood Education courses, recommended
- Excellent teaching, communications and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of assessment techniques
- Must be able to teach Early Childhood Education and related courses
- Licensed in Early Childhood Education
- Be effective in addressing needs of a diverse student body
- Reflective, interactive pedagogical teaching technique; program development skills; and experience with technological innovation in teaching and learning
