ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF NURSING

Iowa Wesleyan College, a four year liberal arts college in Mt. Pleasant, IA, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in Nursing to begin August 2013. Graduation from an accredited college or university with Master of Nursing degree is required. Preference will be given to candidates holding a DNP or Ph.D. This position requires an individual with a minimum of 2 years prior experience in the Medical Surgical setting and eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa. - Academic preparation for, or successful experience in, teaching nursing courses at the community college or university level or equivalent.
- Expertise in medical-surgical nursing and willingness to teach adult medical surgical nursing.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleagues and students.
- Ability to implement curriculum appropriate to the demands of a diverse student population.

CHAIR, DIVISION OF NURSING
Iowa Wesleyan College invites applications for a full-time, 12 month tenure-track Chair of the Division of Nursing (DoN) beginning May 2013.
Position type: Professional/Administration/Some teaching responsibilities
Responsibilities: The DoN Chair is responsible for the overseeing and managing the BSN and RN-BSN nursing program. The Chair supervises and provides evaluation of nursing faculty and staff. The DoN will plan, implement and evaluate the educational program, courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the vision, mission and values of the college. The Chair collaborates with DoN members to establish and evaluate yearly goals, both educational and financial.
Further duties of Division Chair as it pertains to budget, curricula, course schedules, course assignment, division meetings, committees, advising, supervising, reports, recruitment and collaboration with other Chairs and Deans. The DoN Chair must attend meetings such as is required for the Iowa Board of Nursing, Communities of Interest associated with the DoN, The Nursing Student Senate and others that come as a part of the normal conduct of the business of the DoN.
Experience: Minimum of three years of recent teaching experience in nursing education both in the classroom and clinical. Must have strong leadership skills, communication, human to human relationships, data and management skills. Preference will be given to applicants with strong administration experience.
Education required: terminal degree in nursing, can be a Ph.D., Ed.D., D.N.S, D.N.Sc. or D.N.P. from an accredited program.
Physical requirements: Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person and on the phone. The Chair should have adequate writing skills.
