Humpal participating in Iowa City Prime Time League

      MOUNT PLEASANT – Iowa Wesleyan College basketball star Brett Humpal (Sr.-Decorah, Iowa) is currently participating in the Prime Time Basketball League in Iowa City, where he is competing against a number of current and former college stars.

        Humpal is playing for a team sponsored by Goodfellow Printing/Imprinted Sportswear. He scored 25 points in his team’s most recent game and is averaging 11 points per game over his team’s first four games, in which the team has a 2-2 record.

        Humpal is joined on the team by former IWC player Jerome Edwards. Edwards played for the Tigers from 2002-03 and has scored 32 points in four games. Other members of the team include former University of Iowa Hawkeye players Kenyon Murray and Greg Brunner, while other former college stars playing in the league include Duez Henderson (Iowa), Ben Jacobson (Northern Iowa) and Guy Rucker (Iowa). The league also includes a number of current college basketball players from levels ranging from NCAA divisions I through III as well as the NAIA.

        Humpal is a two-time second team NAIA Division II All-American who will be a senior leader on the 2008-09 IWC men’s basketball team. The Tigers finished 13-16 last season, 9-7 in the MCC. IWC returns eight players from last year’s team, including five players who started at least 15 games.
