DES MOINES – Iowa Wesleyan College senior golfer Adam Lindsay (Sr.-Aberdeenshire, Scotland) has been named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week, as announced yesterday by the conference.
Lindsay earned medalist honors at last week’s William Woods University Invitational in Fulton, Mo., finishing the two-day tourney with a score of one-under par 143, five shots ahead of his nearest competitor. He shot a first round score of 74 and then followed on the second day with a round of 69, the low round of the tourney, leading Wesleyan to a second place finish in the tournament.
Lindsay’s performance at William Woods continued a terrific senior year. Including the fall season, he has now finished in the top 10 individually in nine of IWC’s 11 tourneys this year. He also has won medalist honors at the team’s past two tourneys and for the year has a stroke average of 73.4, including 70.5 in four rounds this spring.
Lindsay has also helped lead the Tigers to the cusp of the national rankings. IWC is 27th in the most recent Golf World/Nike NAIA poll and also is receiving votes in the NAIA coaches’ poll. Wesleyan also is currently rated 28th by Golfstat.com in its NAIA head-to-head rankings with a record of 127-29 in its meets this season.
The Tigers next event will be the NAIA Classic on April 13-14 at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis, Ind. The Brickyard course is located on the grounds of the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the event annually brings together a number of the top programs in the NAIA.
