OSKALOOSA – The Iowa Wesleyan College men’s golf team is in first place after the opening round of the William Penn Statesmen Fall Classic at the par-70 Edmundson Golf Course.
The Tigers posted a team score of 296 to lead by six shots over Marshalltown Community College. Simpson College is third at 306, followed by Viterbo (Wis.) University at 308 and William Penn in fifth at 312.
IWC currently holds the top three spots in the individual standings. Adam Moyers (Jr.-Burlington, Iowa) holds the individual lead after round one with a 71. Adam Lindsay (Sr.-Aberdeenshire, Scotland) is following him in second with a 72, while Emery McGraw (So.-Loveland, Colo.) is tied for third with a score of 73, two off the lead.
Adam Saych (So.-London, England) is next for the Tigers, tied for 26th with an 80 on the opening day. Mark Cleary (Fr.-London, England) rounds out the IWC team scores with an 81. Jeff Zieber (So.-Cameron, Mo.) and Nick Juskewycz (Fr.-Fairfield, Iowa) are competing as individuals and shot rounds of 79 and 80, respectively.
