EAST DUBUQUE, ILL. – The Iowa Wesleyan College women’s golf team fought through a tough course to finish eighth at the Loras College Invitational Friday at Lacoma Golf Course.
The Tigers finished wth a team score of 412 strokes, finishing seventh of 11 teams in the field. Ashford University won the tourney with a score of 361, while Coe College and St. Ambrose University tied for second with matching scores of 373.
Senior Melissa Bruegge (Ainsworth, Iowa) led the way for IWC with a round of 99 on the difficult par-71 course, good for a tie for 21st place individually. Gabby Combs (So-Macomb, Ill.) finished tied for 24th with a 101, Ashlee Winner (Sr.-Rushville, Ill.) posted a 104 and Alyssa McClain (Fr.-Belleville, Ill.) scored a 108. Stevie Schrier (Fr.-Columbus Junction, Iowa) finished out with a 114.
The Tigers’ next competition will be next Friday. The team will host its home tourney, the IWC Invitational in Muscatine at the Municipal Golf Course.
