MOUNT PLEASANT – Iowa Wesleyan College has added seven more players to its women’s soccer recruiting class for 2008-09, Head Coach Ed Heberling has announced.
Signing letters of intent recently were six high school athletes and one junior college player. Included in the mix are players from Illinois, Michigan, Colorado and California.
Forwards in the class are Brittney Moss (Genoa, Ill.), and Eleni Nikols (Elmwood Park, Ill.). Moss scored 27 goals for Genoa-Kingston HS this past season, while Nikols last season led Trinity HS to the best record in the school’s history.
Tiffini Suggs (Rockford, Ill.) comes from Guilford HS and is another forward coming in who can also play back on defense. Toni Zamorski (Belleville, Mich.) is a midfielder and one of IWC’s most recent signings. She comes from Belleville HS.
Serina Reyna (Selma, Calif.) and Britni Walker (Loveland, Colo.) both were recruited as defenders. Reyna comes from Selma HS, where she was a four-time team MVP. Walker is a transfer from Cochise Community College in Douglas, Ariz., and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Also joining the defense will be the lone goalkeeper in this year’s recruiting class, Cara Arnold (Davis Junction, Ill.), the latest player in a pipeline of soccer talent coming to IWC from Stillman Valley HS.
The seven recruits join earlier women’s soccer signees Taylor Scott (Rockton, Ill.), Bree Culp (Springfield, Ill.) and Jillian Sulcer (Mechanicsburg, Ill.) among those attending IWC beginning in the fall of 2008. IWC last year finished 5-13 overall and seventh in the Midwest Collegiate Conference with a 2-6 record. The Tigers bring back nine letter winners from last year’s team and begin practice for the 2008-09 season on Aug. 11 and open the season at home Aug. 30 against Hannibal-LaGrange College.
