FINDLAY, OHIO – Sophomore kicker/punter Josh Feliciano (San Diego, Calif.) has been honored by the Mid-States Football Association as its Midwest League Special Teams Player of the Week for the first week of the college football season.
Feliciano began his IWC career with a superb game, excelling in a number of areas as the Tigers defeated Trinity International (Ill.) University 29-7. He converted both of his field goal tries, making kicks of 26 and 19 yards, and also converted all three PAT attempts for the game. He also punted four times for an average of 27 yards and a long of 40, with two of his kicks being downed inside the 20-yard line.
Feliciano also had one of the biggest offensive plays of the game, pulling the ball down on a fake punt and running 20 yards for a first down on the Tigers’ first drive of the game. Wesleyan scored its first touchdown soon after and was on its way to a convincing win.
Feliciano took over both kicking and punting duties this year. He is replacing Scott Knipfer as the IWC kicker, taking over after Knipfer set a school record for field goal makes in a career with 21.
The Tigers are preparing to leave Mount Pleasant on Wednesday to travel to face the University of Tennessee-Martin on Thursday at 6 p.m. Tennessee-Martin is an NCAA Division I-AA member and is ranked in several preseason polls.
