WAVERLY – Alyssa McClain (So.-Belleville, Ill.) led the Iowa Wesleyan College women’s golf team on both days as the Tigers competed at the Wartburg College Fall Invitational this weekend.
McClain posted the top individual score for IWC on both Saturday and Sunday as the Tigers finished 21st of 22 teams participating at the tourney, posting a team score of 860 strokes. McClain shot a score of 99 on the first day and then lowered her score to 95 on Sunday at the par-72 Centennial Oaks Golf Course, in all tying for 74th individually in the tourney.
Melissa Petersen (Sr.-Wilton, Iowa) was next for the Tigers individually, shooting a 102 on Saturday and following up with a 108 on Sunday to finish 90th individually. Gabby Combs (Jr.-Macomb, Ill.) followed in 93rd with a two-day score of 217 (108-109) while Stevie Schrier (So.-Columbus Junction, Iowa) placed 101st with a score of 239 (125-114).
Washington (Mo.) University was the team champion with a score of 631, while Ellen Rickert of Wartburg was medalist with a score of 150.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday when they host their annual IWC Invitational, starting at 8 a.m. at Muscatine Municipal Golf Course.
