MOUNT PLEASANT – Kendra Zimmerman (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis.) of Iowa Wesleyan College has been named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Setter of the Week in volleyball, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Zimmerman finished with 34 assists as the Tigers swept Clarke College in three sets in the team’s MCC opener last Wednesday in Dubuque. She also added 10 digs and two kills as Wesleyan improved to 6-3 on the season and avenged a five-set loss to the Crusaders last year in conference play.
Through the Tigers’ first nine matches, Zimmerman is leading the MCC in assists with 8.86 assists per game, more than one assist/game more than anyone else in the conference. Along with 310 assists, the junior also has 22 kills, 15 services aces and 12 blocks this year.
IWC will aim to improve to 2-0 in MCC play when it travels to Forest City on Wednesday to face Waldorf College at 7 p.m. The Tigers then will come home for their home opener against Ashford University on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at Ruble Arena.
