FOREST CITY – B.J. Wagy (Jr.-Cedar Rapids, Iowa) led three Iowa Wesleyan College hitters in double figures for kills and the Tigers won their second straight Midwest Collegiate Conference match on the road with a four set win at Waldorf College on Wednesday.
IWC rebounded from a 27-25 loss in the first set to sweep the next three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-8. The Tigers moved to 2-0 in the MCC and 7-3 overall and have already tied for the most conference wins in a season in four years.
Wagy had 11 kills to lead Wesleyan offensively, and also tied Elizabeth Guzman (So.-San Bernardino, Calif.) for the team lead with five blocks. Megan McVey (So.-Fort Worth, Texas) and Katie Jammer (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis.) both added 10 kills each.
Kendra Zimmerman (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis.) finished with 20 assists. Katie Leidl (Sr.-Esterhazy, Saskatchewan) led the Tigers in digs with 17 and Allegra Tennis (Jr.-Madison, Wis.) added four block assists, as IWC finished with nine total blocks in the match.
The Tigers were mostly error-free in their hitting, with just 13 hitting errors over four sets. Waldorf finished with 23 hitting errors. Synnove Abrahamson led the Warriors (1-14 overall, 0-1 MCC) with 16 kills.
IWC finally will play its first home match of the season and will aim to go to 3-0 in league play next Wednesday when Ashford University visits for an MCC match. Game time at Ruble Arena will be 7 p.m.
