Education: BA in Psychology from Wartburg College
Kyle is from Edgewood, Iowa, and graduated from Wartburg College where he studied psychology and minored in community sociology. He currently lives in Mount Pleasant and enjoys staying active and involved in the community, watching and participating in athletics, and spending time with family and friends. He travels in northern Illinois and works with first year students last names starting with A to D.
What I love about my job:I really enjoy the students and counselors I meet; the flexibility and variability from one day to the next keeps me involved and interested. The Iowa Wesleyan Community has a “homey” feel to it. I like the closeness of the faculty, coaches and staff members on campus. Familiar faces and shared experiences are important to me. I enjoy helping students transition from high school to college and hearing that Iowa Wesleyan College is a great fit.
Favorite thing about IWC: As I mentioned above, the closeness and welcoming attitudes held by the wonderful people on campus are a huge draw. The close-knit community, internships within all majors, and tons of one-on-one conversations and interactions with classmates and faculty members make Iowa Wesleyan College what it is today.
What I do when I’m not at work: I live a couple of blocks from campus, so I tend to take advantage of the community’s resources. I am involved at the REC center in town, bike and play tennis at East Lake Park, and enjoy spending time outdoors with friends. I enjoy watching sports on TV and traveling, as well.
Music: I tend to listen to about everything. If it’s a genre, I have listened to it! I couldn’t even narrow it down to a few favorite artists.
TV: I don’t watch a lot of TV, but when I do it tends to be older re-runs. I like comedy TV shows like How I Met Your Mother and King of Queens. I also watch my fair share of Sportscenter!
Movies: My all-time favorites are Tommy Boy, Grumpy Old Men, Meet the Parents, and The Green Mile. I usually find myself watching comedies; afterwards, I tend to quote all of the classic one-liners to friends and family members for a week or two.
Sports: I’m a huge sports fan. If I’m not watching them, I’m participating in them somewhere. I’m a diehard Cubs fan (maybe this is the year). I have been a Dallas Cowboys football fan for as long as I can remember. I am also a supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes for collegiate football and basketball.
Students considering Iowa Wesleyan College should visit East Lake Park. They have great outdoor facilities: great scenery, Frisbee golf, biking/running trails, soccer fields, tennis courts, a driving range and softball fields.
