MOUNT PLEASANT – Iowa Wesleyan College junior women’s soccer player Fanny Koloko-Green (Fremont, Calif.) set a new school single-season record for goals with her score Tuesday afternoon against Viterbo (Wis.) University.
Koloko-Green scored a goal in the second half against the V-Hawks for her 11th goal of the season. The goal broke the former school record of ten goals in a season originally set by Jaimee Cushman in 2000 and tied last year by Jessica Ryan (Jr.-Burlington, Iowa). Her goal also was the Tigers’ 36th goal of the season and helped IWC tie the school mark for team goals in a season.
A junior transfer this year from Ohlone College in Fremont, Calif., Koloko-Green this year is leading the Tigers with 11 goals scored and a total of 22 points. Heading into IWC’s final regular season match Saturday against Midwest Collegiate Conference-leading /St. Ambrose, she is four points from tying the school record of 26 points in a season set by Kelly Miller in 2003. Koloko-Green also ranks among the MCC leaders and goals and points, as she is tied for 3rd in goals scored and tied for 5th in points scored this year. She also is fourth in goals scored per game (0.65 gpg).
Heading into its regular season finale, Iowa Wesleyan is 7-8-2 overall, 1-5-1 in the MCC. The seven wins ties the school record for most wins in a season set first in 1999.
