JOHN WOJTECKI NAMED 2012 EXL INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR!
In 1997, the IWC Extended Learning program initiated the Part-time Instructor of the Year award to serve two purposes:
1) To honor a part-time instructor who has shown dedication and quality in providing instructional services to the evening adult students of IWC, and
2) To draw attention to the efforts and achievements of the part-time evening faculty who teach for Wesleyan’s Extended Learning program.
Evening students nominated candidates and following a review of the nominees, we determined this year’s award winner.
John Wojtecki earned his Bachelor’s degree in economics from St. Mary’s College in Maryland. He attended Gannon University in Erie, PA, completed his Master of Science degree at Drake University and last year, earned his Ph.D. from Capella University in Minneapolis. Since his first teaching assignment for Iowa Wesleyan in 1996, he has taught Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior at our Muscatine and West Burlington sites, was a pioneer for us by teaching classes on live, interactive video and is now looking forward to launching classes online this coming year. Students describe him as, “Always professional in appearance and presentation at class.” “He is always prepared and on time with materials ready and lessons planned.” “He lives what he teaches. He has a passion for the material and by hearing his stories regarding community involvement, John is true to what he teaches.” “John encouraged class interaction which, over only eight weeks, developed into an openness that created a group bond and enhanced learning.”
Our seventeenth honoree distinguished himself by becoming just the third part-time instructor to have earned this award a second time. Dr. Wojtecki was presented a plaque at the IWC Awards Day ceremony on April 25. Thank you John, you have our deepest appreciation for your contributions to our Extended Learning program!
